Five Prompt Habits That Make AI Images More Usable

Most AI images fail for a boring reason: the prompt describes a mood but not a result. These five habits fix most of that.

1. Name the use first. “Poster background”, “product hero shot” or “blog header” tells you what composition you need before you write anything else.

2. Describe light and lens. “Soft window light, 50mm, shallow depth of field” does more for realism than any list of adjectives.

3. Ask for empty space. If text will go on top, request copy space in a specific area. AI-generated lettering is still unreliable, so add the text later in a design tool.

4. Generate wide, upscale narrow. Make several low-cost variations, choose one, and only then upscale it 2x or 4x for print or video.

5. Keep a prompt log. Save the prompts that worked with the image they produced. After a month you have a house style you can reuse.
