Most people do not realise that TikTok tells the other person exactly who opened their story.
If you just want to check what someone posted before it disappears after 24 hours, there are browser tools that let you do it without logging in at all. I have been using tikviewer.org for this — you type a username and it pulls the public stories, nothing to install and your name never shows up in their viewer list.
Worth knowing the difference: a private account still stays private. These viewers only reach what is already public. And because stories vanish after a day, being able to save one before it goes is the part I actually use most.
